A lion was sleeping under a tree. A little mouse ran across his nose and woke him up. The lion caught the mouse with his paw.

“Please let me go,” said the mouse. “One day, I may be able to help you.” The lion laughed, but he let the mouse go. A few days later, the lion was caught in a hunter’s net.

He pulled and pulled, but he could not get out. The mouse heard his cries and came to help. She bit through the ropes with her sharp teeth.

Soon, the lion was free. “You saved me!” said the lion. “Thank you, my little friend.”
