그 여행자는 멀리서 불빛을 보았다.

(b) The traveller saw a light at a distance.

설명: at a distance는 '거리를 두고'를 뜻한다.

Oil paintings look to advantage at a distance.(유화는 거리를 두고 보아야 좋게 보인다.)

Keep one's distance는 '충분히 거리를 두고 떨어져 있다'라는 뜻이다.

The lion looked dangerous, so I decided to keep my distance from it.

(사자는 위험하게 보였다. 그래서 그놈과 거리를 두고 떨어져 있기로 작정했다)
