Sheldon: It has been some time since we’ve had a woman take her clothes off

in our apartment.

우리 집에서 여자가 옷을 훌러덩 벗어 던진 게 참 오랜 만이잖아.

Leonard: That’s not true, remember at Thanksgiving my grandmother

with Alzheimer’s had that episode.

아냐, 추수감사절에 치매 걸리신 우리 할머니랑 그런 일 있었잖아.

Sheldon: Point taken. It has been some time since we’ve had a woman take her clothes off
after which we didn’t want to rip our eyes out.

네 말이 맞아. 우리 집에서 여자가 옷을 훌러덩 벗어 던지고 나서 우리 눈을 확 뽑아 버리고 싶지 않았던 적이 참 오래 됐지.

Leonard: The worst part was watching her carve that turkey.

최악은 할머니가 칠면조 고기를 베어내는 걸 지켜보는 거였지.

Sheldon: So, what exactly are you trying to accomplish here?

그래, 정확히 네가 여기서 쟁취하려는 게 뭐야?

Leonard: Excuse me? 뭐?

Sheldon: That woman in there’s not going to have sex with you.

저기 있는 여자는 너랑 섹스 안 할 거잖아.

Leonard: Well I’m not trying to have sex with her.

저 여자랑 섹스 하려는 게 아냐.

Sheldon: Oh, good. Then you won’t be disappointed.

오, 다행이네. 실망은 안 하겠다.

Leonard: What makes you think she wouldn’t have sex with me? I’m a male and she’s a female.

저 여자가 나랑 그거 안 할거란 생각은 왜 한 거야? 난 남성이고 저긴 여성인데.

Sheldon: Yes, but not of the same species.

맞아, 근데 종이 다르잖아.

Leonard: I’m not going to engage in hypotheticals here,

I’m just trying to be a good neighbour.

난 가설이나 만든 일에 끼지는 않을 거야. 난 그냥 좋은 이웃이 되려는 거야.

Sheldon: Oh, of course. 오, 어련하시겠어.

Leonard: That’s not to say that if a carnal relationship were to develop

that I wouldn’t participate. However briefly.

그렇다고 육체적인 관계가 전개된다면 관여하지 않겠다는 말은 아니고.

그래도 그게 얼마 가겠냐 만은.

*여기서 briefly는 double entendre(이중의 뜻, 특히 한쪽은 천하고 위태로운 뜻을 함축한 어구) 입니다. 하나는 그 육체적 관계가 오래 가겠냐는 거고, 또 하나는 내가 섹스 상대로는 그다지 오랜 시간 버티는 왕성한 스태미나의 소유자 아니다 란 의미입니다.

Sheldon: Do you think this possibility will be helped or hindered when she discovers

your Luke Skywalker no-more-tears shampoo?

내 생각에는 그 가능성이 저 여자가 네 ‘루크 스카이워커 더 이상 눈물 흘리지 마세요 샴푸’를 발견하면 더 커질까 아니면 줄어들까?

Leonard: It’s Darth Vader shampoo. (There is a knock on the door.)

Luke Skywalker’s the conditioner.

다스베이더가 샴푸야. 루크 스카이워커는 린스고.

*우리가 말하는 린스(rinse)는 단지 헹구기 라는 의미입니다. hair conditioner가 바른 표현임.
