[11]관광통역가이드-영어자기소개
[지원동기]
올해 초 학과 주최로 열린 특강에서 알게 된 통역가이드는 제게 우리문화유산에 대해 전반적인 관심을 가질 수 있게 만든 계기가 되었습니다. 시험을 준비해가는 와중에 제가 가장 어려움을 느꼈던 부분은 문화재였습니다. 그것은 물론 문화재에 대한 지식이 없었기 때문이었겠지만, 더 근본적인 문제는 우리의 것에 대한 무관심 때문이었을 것입니다. 약 11달의 배낭여행을 통해 호주와 뉴질랜드에 대해서는 웬만큼 안다고 생각했던 저에게 과연 그 나라들을 아는 만큼 한국을 알고 있느냐 라고 누군가가 저에게 질문을 한다면 한국에 대한 저의 무지를 인정할 수밖에 없었을 겁니다.

There was a lecture on the examination for a guide's license in the beginning of the school term and it made me interested in our cultural inheritance. When I studied for guide exam, the most difficult thing was the cultural treasure. The reason was that I had little knowledge of it. However, I guess basic reason was the indifference for transitional things. If someone asked me, who was proud of my backpacking travel for 11 months and knowledge for New Zealand & Australia, that you know about Korea as much as you know the countries. I would acknowledge my ignorance for my country.
11달간의 배낭여행을 통해 제가 느꼈던 것은 세상 어디에 가든 살 수 있다는 자신감과 나 자신의 우리 조국에 대한 무지함이었습니다. 여행 중에서 만난 이국 친구들에게 우리나라에 대해서 설명해 주려고 도서관에 가서 찾게 된 자료는 너무나 빈약했고, 그나마 시대에 뒤떨어지는 것이 너무 많았습니다. 하지만 정말 심각한 문제는 그것을 올바르게 알려주려 했지만 내 자신이 아는 것이 없어 그들에게 올바른 한국을 전달해줄 수 없었다는 사실이었습니다.
While traveling for eleven months, I got the confidence that I can live any in the world and felt that I didn't know well about my country. When I came to the library to explain my country to friends whom I met during traveling, information and books on Korea were behind the times. However, the most serious problem was I. I tried to talk about Korea but I didn't have enough information.
