’Floating Islands’ on Han River
The Seoul Metropolitan Government will build three islands on the Han River between the Banpo and Dongjak bridges. Entitled "Flowers of the Han River," these large artificial islands will be used as venues for the G20 Summit in November.
As part of the Han River Renaissance Project, propelled by Mayor Oh Se-hoon, the construction of the man-made islands costs a huge amount of money, requiring a total of 96.4 billion won. The city government and Soul Flora Consortium, which submitted the plan in a design contest held by the city government, will be responsible for the construction.
