A few degrees can make a big difference when it comes to food storage.(식품저장에 있어 몇도는 큰 차이를 만들 수 있습니다.)

Foods can go bad if they get too warm.(식품은 너무 따뜻하게 되면 상할 수 있습니다.)

But for many of the world's poor, finding a good way to keep food cool is difficult.(그러나 세계의 많은 가난한 사람들에게 음식을 시원하게 유지하는 좋은 방법을 찾는것은 어렵습니다.)

Refrigerators are costly and they need electricity.(냉장고는 비싸고 전기를 필요로 합니다.)

Yet spoiled food not only creates health risks but also economic losses.(그러나 상한 음식은 건강상의 위험을 만들뿐만 아니라 경제적 손실도 만들 수 있습니다.) Farmers lose money when they have to throw away products that they cannot sell quickly.(농부들은 그들이 빨리 팔지못하는 상품을 버려야만 할 때 돈을 잃습니다.) But in nineteen ninety-five a teacher in northern Nigeria named Mohammed Bah Abba found a solution.(그러나 1995년에 북나이지리아 Mohammed Bah Abba라는 이름의 교사가 해결책을 발견했습니다. He developed the "Pot-in-Pot Conservation/Cooling System." 그는 Pot-in-Pot Conservation/Cooling System을 개발했습니다.

It uses two round containers made of clay.그것은 2개의 찰흙으로 만들어진 둥근 용기를 사용합니다.)

A smaller pot is placed inside a larger one.(작은 항아리는 더큰 항아리안에 놓여집니다.)

The space between the two pots is filled with wet sand.(두개의 항아리 사이의 공간은 젖은 모래로 채워집니다.)

The inner pot can be filled with fruit, vegetables or drinks.안쪽 항아리는 과일, 채조, 음료로 채워질 수 있습니다.)

A wet cloth covers the whole cooling system.(젖은 천이 전체 냉각장치를 덮습니다.)

Food stored in the smaller pot is kept from spoiling through a simple evaporation process.(작은 항아리안에 저장된 식품은 단순한 증발과정을 통하여 상하지 않게 됩니다.)

Water in the sand between the two pots evaporates through the surface of the larger pot, where drier outside air is moving.(두개의 항아리 사이의 모래속 물은 더 건조한 바깥공기가 움직이는 더큰 항아리의 표면을 통하여 증발합니다.)

The evaporation process creates a drop in temperature of several degrees.(증발과정은 온도가 몇도정도 떨어지게 합니다.)

This cools the inner pot and helps keep food safe from harmful bacteria.(이것이 안쪽 항아리를 시원하게 하고 음식이 해로운 세균으로부터 음식을 안전하게 보존하도록 돕습니다.)

Some foods can be kept fresh this way for several weeks.(어떤 음식은 여러주 동안 이런식으로 신선하게 유지될 수 있습니다.)

People throughout Nigeria began using the invention.(나이지리아 사람들은 이 발명을 사용하기 시작했습니다.)

And it became popular with farmers in other African countries.(그리고 이것은 다른 아프리카국가의 농부들에게도 인기있게 되었습니다.)

Mohammed Bah Abba personally financed the first five thousand pot-in-pot systems for his own community and five villages nearby(모하메드는 처음 5천개의 냉각장치를 위한 자신의 지역사회와 근처 5마을을 위해 자금을 모았습니다.)

.In two thousand, the Rolex Watch Company of Switzerland honored him with the Rolex Award for Enterprise.(2000년에는 스위스의 롤렉스 시계회사가 Rolex Award로 그에게 영예를 주었다.)

This award recognizes people trying to develop projects aimed at improving human knowledge and well-being.(이 상은 인간의 지식과 복지향상을 목표로 하는 프로젝트를 발전시키려고 노력하는 사람들의 공로를 인정하는 것입니다.)

A committee considers projects in science and medicine, technology, exploration and discovery, the environment and cultural history.(위원회는 과학과 의학, 기술, 탐험과 발견, 환경과 문화적 역사의 프로젝트를 고려했습니다.)

Winners receive financial assistance to help develop and extend their projects.(수상자들은 그들의 프로젝트를 개발하고 확대하는 것을 돕기위해 재정적원조를 받습니다.)

The awards are given every two years.(이 상은 2년마다 주어집니다.)

The next awards will be presented in late two thousand twelve.(다음 상은 2012년 말에 주어질것입니다.)
