| 감정 / 건강 상태 분사와 형용사 현재분사는 능동(~시키는, ~하게 하는), 진행(~하고 있는, ~하는)의 의미를 가집니다. 과거분사는 수동(~당한, ~된), 완료(~한, ~해버린)의 의미를 갖습니다. 문장 속에서 능동인지 수동인지의 의미를 해석해보면 쉽게 알 수 있습니다. The game is exciting. (게임이 관중을 흥분시키는 능동이므로 현재분사를 사용함.) I was excited about the news. (뉴스를 들어서 흥분된 수동이므로 과거분사를 사용함.) 감정을 나타내는 분사형 형용사의 경우 대상이 사람일 경우 과거분사가 오지만 반드시 그렇지만은 않습니다. 다음 예문을 보세요. 어렵다면 건너띄셔도 됩니다. He's bored. (그가 무엇인가에 의해 지루해졌다는 의미. 수동이므로 과거분사) He's boring. (그가 다른 사람을 지루하게 한다는 의미. 능동이므로 현재분사) (1) satisfying / satisfactory / satisfied satisfying: 즐거움, 기쁨 또는 만족을 주는(=giving pleasure or contentment) satisfactory: 마음에 드는, 조건에 맞는, 받아들일 수 있는(=good enough to be ecceptable) satisfied: 기뻐하는, 즐거워하는 For many people, a part-time job can be very satisfying. → 즐거움을 줄수 있다는 뜻이므로 satisfying을 써야 한다. Students are asked to leave the college if their work is not satisfactory. 학업성과가 조건에 맞는의 뜻이므로 satisfactory를 써야 한다. The salary they offered was more than satisfactory. →그들이 제시한 봉급이 받아들일 수 있을 만큼 좋다는 뜻이므로 satisfactory를 써야 한다. 봉급이 기뻐할 수는 없으므로 satisfied는 부적절하다. Despite the team's convincing 3-0 victory, the manager wasn't satisfied. →감독이 기뻐한다는 뜻이므로 satisfied를 써야 한다. The service in the hotel was not at all satisfactory. → 서비스가 받아들일 수 없는(기준미달)이라는 뜻이므로 satisfactory를 쓴다. (2) delightful / delighted / impressive / impressed It is delightful to think of her. <진주어> I am delighted to think of her. <원인> His speech was impressive. [감동을 주는 것이었다] → [감동적이었다] I was impressed with his speech. [감동을 받았다] →delighted와 대응하는 형태로는 delighting을 쓰지 않고 형용사인 delightful을 써야 한다. 또 impressed와 대응하는 형태로도 impressing을 쓰지 않고 impressive를 써야 한다. (3) 기타 감정과 관련된 분사 출신의 형용사 excite, surprise, bore, amuse, satisfy, astonish, frighten, confuse, interest, disappoint, bewilder, embarrass, exhaust, irritate, annoy 위에 나와 있는 동사들은 <~하게 하다>란 의미를 갖습니다. 따라서 분사로 쓰일 때 현재분사는 <~하게 하는> 이란 뜻을 갖고, 과거분사는 <~한> 또는 < ~하게 된>의 뜻을 갖습니다. ▶ The game excited the audience. ⇒ The audience were excited by the game. ▶ I was bored with listening to his boring address. 1.
