Expressions about water are almost as common as water itself. But many of the expressions using water have unpleasant meanings. 물에 관련된 표현은 물 만큼이나 흔하게 찾아볼 수 있습니다. 그러나 물이 들어간 많은 표현들은 좋지 않은 의미를 갖고 있습니다. The expression to be in hot water is one of them. It is a very old expression. Hot water was used five hundred years ago to mean being in trouble.
