kim:

So, is she still giving you the cold-shoulder1?

Jack:

If by ‘she’, you’re referring to1 your mother,

I’d appreciate it if you’d call her by her name, mom

And no, she’s just busy.

Kim:

She’s busy a lot

Jack:

And it’s a school night for you, so time for bed.

* school night: 학교 가기 전 주(week)

Kim:

Good night

Jack:

I love you.

Kim:

I’m glad you moved back in, daddy.

*move in: 이사 오다

Jack:

me, too, sweet, have a good sleep

Teri:

Good night, sweet pea

Kim:

Yeah

()

Jack:

She’s still giving you a hard time2?

I don’t know when I became the enemy

I think she blames me for2 your moving out.

* move out: 이사가다

Jack:

Well, I never gave her any reason to.

Teri:

Maybe not. But I think you let her manipulate3 you, Jack.

Jack:

No I don’t.

Teri:

Let me guess, just now she was sweetness and light, right?,

* sweetness and light: 다정하고 명랑한

then she said something nasty about me.

Jack:

And I just busted her on3 it, why are you taking this so personally?,

it’s just that mother-teenage daughter thing, hey maybe you’re right,

maybe we should talk to her right now,

tell her not to play us off each other

* play off: 싸우게하다

and that if she’s insulting you, she’s insulting me, too.

Teri:

O.K

Jack:

Good

Teri:

I really appreciate that
